A new acupuncture clinic has launched in Stafford offering the benefits of a proven method of pain relief, which has been used effectively for thousands of years, to help treat a host of everyday physical and emotional conditions.
Licensed acupuncturist Jemma Atherden, a member of the British Acupuncture Council trained in both the Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element methods, has set up the clinic following a move to the area from Berkshire where she practiced for over six years. And the town centre clinic is already proving popular with locals looking for an alternative way to treat existing conditions, as Jemma explains:
“I moved up to Stafford with my husband and young family to be closer to friends and family, and always intended to set up an acupuncture clinic to continue my work – however, I never expected things to take off quite this quickly. I’m treating clients with conditions ranging from chronic back and shoulder pain through to pre and post-natal conditions. The response from the local medical community has been phenomenal, with a number of consultants and GPs referring clients to me to help treat persistent problems.
“The beauty of acupuncture is that it can be used to treat such a huge range of everyday problems – everything from migraines and headaches through to infertility, irregular periods, anxiety, depression, skin conditions, digestive problems, fatigue and pre and post-natal conditions. I’ve even helped ladies in late pregnancy to turn their breech babies through non-invasive, gentle treatment.
“At this time of year, acupuncture can really help alleviate the symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder – otherwise known as SAD or the ‘winter blues’ which effects a lot of people as the nights draw in.”
